If you have a work-related injury or illness, WorkSafe may pay for the reasonable costs of physiotherapy services, provided the following requirements are met:
- The injury or illness is work related
- It is in line with Section 99 of the Accident Compensation Act and the principles of the Clinical Framework
- Where the provider is currently registered as a physiotherapist with WorkSafe (which we are)
Approval for WorkSafe funded physiotherapy needs to be sought by us via a ‘Physiotherapy Management Plan’ (PMP). After receiving the treatment request, WorkSafe follows an approval process before approving/rejecting the proposed treatment plan.
If approval is given, WorkSafe stipulates the number and type of treatments they deem appropriate for the patient’s recovery and rehabilitation within a given timeframe.
